Hi
I tried making a column swirl a few days ago but the mixture quickly became too viscous to work with after I soaped. I don't think it was a case of seizing as the portion that I left un coloured also became "globbly". I didn't use a fragrance.
The only thing I can think of is that I might have over mixed - but I was real careful only to go to very thin trace.
Here is my receipe:
Palm Oil - 300 g
Olive oil 350 g
Castor Oil 100 g
Coconut oil 250 g
NaOH lye (using brambleberry lye calc 141.2 g
Superfatted 5%
I soaped at around 128 F
Any advice would be most appreciated

Does anyone have a good reciepe for a column swirl

I would soap cooler at about 110 degrees (US) and change your recipe slightly to give you more working time.

Castor Oil 50
Coconut Oil 200
Olive Oil 450
Palm Oil 300
136.5 gms of lye for a 7% superfat.

Thank you I'll try that.
I forgot to say that the soap I did end up with was OK. It gelled fantastically and I have something that looks like a 'deep space nebula' :) so that's what I call this effort.
Regards
