So my husband has always had a problem with his scalp being extra itchy and it's always red and irritated. His scalp gets very flaky too. Well I have read lots about shampoo bars but have not gotten around to making them yet. I told him for the heck of it when he was complaining one day to use one of our million bars of soap in the shower( :D I have an addiction) Well he started using it about a week ago and has been using the bar soap I make every day since then and is saying is scalp is way less itchy and feeling better. I want to make him a really, really nice shampoo bar and I am looking for some advice on what would be some really good ingredients to put in. This is what I was thinking so far...

Olive Oil
Coconut Oil
Castor Oil
Avocado Oil

Rosemary EO
Tea Tree EO
Peppermint EO
Vanilla FO (to sweeten the scent a bit)

Right now I have all these ingredients on hand. Normally I would use Palm Oil in my soap recipes but I am out and don't want to place an order for just 1 lb of palm oil. Thinking if lard would be a good sub for palm in a shampoo bar or if it's good for hair. Currently coconut oil is the only hard oil I have at the moment. Well I also have shea butter. Would that have good benefits for hair as well in a shampoo bar? I know that normally yes it would but saponified? I was also thinking of hot processing this so he can use as soon as possible and it will cure faster than regular cp.

Any other suggestions?

I eventually plan on making my own conditioner from scratch but until then I think he can just do with out. He's a man with very little hair anyway.

Thanks!

My head was feeling itchy and I made the Tea Tree oil Shampoo Bar I found on BB's Soap Queen site. Easy to make and has been wonderful. Leaves my hair squeaky clean and shiny and no itching any more. I don't use any rinses. it rinses out really well.

I've been using the bastile recipe on Otion blog.
Since it's 90% olive, you can infuse all kinds of
soothing herbs in the oil. Very moisturizing.
Sadly, it takes forever to cure.

In the meantime, hair tea rinses are a nice
alternative/addition to conditioner.
Just make a strongish tea with marshmallow root
(VERY soothing) and/or rosemary, chamamile, etc.
Let the tea cool and pour a couple tablespoons
of vinegar in it. Pour it on after the shampoo bar
and leave it in.

I have seen the shampoo bar recipe on soapqueen but I wanted to doctor it a litte. (I can never leave well enough alone) I also have seen the bastille recipe recipe on Otion's website and I make something similar to that. I really love it. I've been doing a lot of research on oils that are good for your hair. I was just looking looking for opinions on some other hair loving ingredients that people know of. Thanks guys.
