I made a new recipe that had the standard coconut, palm ,castor oils. In addition to that it had beeswax and emu oil in it. All was going great until I added the recommended wintergreen oil and it separated-oils and mass apart . The recipe said to blend the lye and oils at 150' -I think that it was so high because of the beeswax which began to turn solid if it was much cooler than 150. Did it separate because my EO was room temp? Does wintergreen cause this reaction? I also added a small am't of Clary sage EO- no apparent problem with that.

You soaped at 150 degrees US? That's too hot. Most Wintergreen oil in the US is not the real thing due to safety issues. So it could be the temp and the oil used.

I thought the temp was too hot too but the wax solidified any cooler. I did melt the whole batch down the next day and remolded it. It looks OK- no oil floating... is it safe to use after a month?

How much beeswax did you use? I use it in every batch and can soap as low as 110 degrees with a blend of other oils. Did you add all your oils, butters and beeswax together to melt? Are you saying that you rebatched, then waited one month? Try a piece and see.

Irena I think she just rebatched it and was asking about the cure.

If so...let it cure and then try it. I agree with Irena 150 degrees is too hot...the beeswax should be added to oils and butters to melt...it will incorporate at 103 degrees because I have soaped at that temp with it.

My recipe was 14 oz of coconut oil, 6 oz beeswax, 12 oz olive oil, 6 oz castor oil, 2 oz emu plus the EO.
Yes, I did melt the coconut oil and beeswax- then added the liquids.
I'll try a smaller batch again. It helps me to know that you all make it work at a lower temp. Back to the lab......
