Teach Soap

I'm going to be signing up for insurance in the next few weeks so i can start selling my soaps and lotions. I have been making the same recipes ofr over a year and a half now and am curious and excited to see if I can make some extra cash for the holidays. Anyways, my question is, once I sign up for the insurance what other bases do i need to legally cover? Do I need to come up with a business name and get all that copy righted stuff too? Thanks for all you help

I don't know what the rules and regs are where you live, but most places require registering with the franchise tax board so you will need to start collecting taxes, a business license, a wholesale or resale license, a home inspection (if applicable). Go to your llocal city hall and ask. Every county seems to be just a bit different. Yes you need a business name, just make sure no one else is using it. I don't think you need to trademark it now, but you can if you want.
