Well, I am not sure about soap bar for the laundry but there are 3 laundry soap powder (may I say that?) recipes on I had no chance to try it out yet, but it looks super easy.

Do you mean a bar of soap that you can shred up and make laundry soap with? If so, 100% coconut oil or lard will do the trick.

Or do you mean a bar of soap to treat stains?

for shredding to put in a laundry Detergent i want to try. it calls for laundry soap bar, baking soda, washing soda, oxyclean, borax, Purex Crystals Fabric Softener. so i was hoping to make my own laundry bars and that would be one less thing to buy. this detergent is suppose to last up to a year only use 1 to 2 tablespoons to a load of laundry.
thank you for your help

That's what I would do. 100% coconut with 0% superfat. I would not add Purex Crystals Fabric Softener, but that's me.

Ditto on the 100% coconut
I LOVE my cleaning soap
It's really fun to make too, because
I just throw it a lined cardboard box
But.....that's when I practice texured tops
I sit there and play with it like frosting a cake!
(It works well as a stain stick and I have
washed a few dishes with it)

Have you thought about or tried the easy-peasy liquid laundry soap that does NOT require shredding/grating a bar? I'm just tossing it out there...because I used to do all that, but to be honest, it took so long and I am so impatient :) It wasn't working for me...on a personal level...on the actual cleaning things level it was spiffy grand :)

I use 3tbsp EACH borax and washing soda, 2tbsp ORIGINAL Dawn, 2 quarts HOT water and use about 1/4 to 1/2 per load....EASY PEASY FAST to make and leaves me WAY more time for other stuff (like folding that darn laundry)....I suppose if you wanted to mix and match so to speak and up the ingredients while lowering the water you could easily get something concentrated as well....I just don't bother because it fits perfectly in a 2 liter bottle with "head room" for the bubbles when I mix it up :)

We have an "HE" washer too...I HATE it...miss my old clunker...but this soap works pretty well in that....no issues with it...

Just tossing a time saving option out there...so you can make other fun soaps with colors and such :)

100% coconut oil at 0SF - how long does it need to cure/dry before grating? Or what kind of water discount can be done?
I tried 100% OO bars and 4 weeks later wouldn't shred in processor without clumping together from the moisture still inside.

For a laundry soap bar using 100% CO at 0% SF, would it be okay to add some FO? Would the fragrance carry over into the laundry, or would the FO possibly cause stains?

You can add fragrance to you soap. Lots of people use leftover soap for their laundry and don't have a problem.
