Teach Soap

I recently made a batch of soap and intended to use 5% Shea butter as a superfatting agent, but I forgot to add it. Will my soap turn out ok? I used coconut oil, tallow, sweet almond oil, and castor oil in the recipe.

In other words you calculated for 0% superfat and then forgot to add the extra?
It may be perfectly ok but it will depend on the actual (versus average) SAP values of the oils you used.

Exactly like barquentine said. It may be okay, but it might be lye heavy so make sure you check it before using.

I always add all my superfatting oils or butters along with my other oils since lye is still active at trace and superfats whatever oils/butters it gets a hold of.

There is no need to add any oils or butters at trace. Lye is still very active at this point and it will take whatever it wants. There is no gaurantee that your butter will end up as your superfat. I would chunk it up for rebatch. Put it in the oven or crockpot and add your missing butter. Cook til the mashed potato stage. Make sure that you mix very, very well. Then glop into your mold.
