Teach Soap

Ok, I'm ready to do my first rebatch of my soap that ended up with strange crystallized holes in it! I'm going to chop it up and put in my crock pot, do I add anything else? Water, goats milk?...I've read some people add water but then might have difficulty hardening the soap. I'm curious as to favorite rebatch methods that work!! I really don't want to throw this away! Also, is it possible to come out with a nice color?

Momsoap: I think there is a thread called "Favorite Rebatch Method" that is pretty extensive and covers your questions... I have only done it once so can't help too much.

If the soap is new, there is no need to add any extra liquid. Chunk it up with gloves on, put in your crock pot and cook til it reaches the mashed potato stage. Then glop into your mold.

I've never rebatched, but have a related question. When you mention throwing it in a crock pot, do you need a soap-dedicated crock pot? Can you use one you already have, do the rebatch, clean the pot well, and then still cook something in it?

If you have a stainless steel pot that you use for soaping, I think you can put it in that and in the oven at a low temp. That is what I would try if I didn't have my old crock pot to use just for soap. My rebatch turned out nice! My before and after pics are under the subject "Strange looking"!
