Teach Soap

Hello,

I hope everyone is doing well and creating the soap master piece of the century.

Do any of you guys use pre made lye mixtures? If so, is the below calculation correct?

for 120 oz batch

84 oz in water (70%)
36 oz in lye (30%)

That doesn't look right to me. If you weigh your own water and lye, as an example, for 120 ozs. of only coconut oil, you would need 30-45 ozs. of water and 20.5 ozs. of lye for a 7% superfat.

That looks like it would be a really lye heavy batch, and take forever to cure with so much water.
