So I tried my first soap today and i like the way it made my skin feel but didnt lather as well as I had hoped. Would like some suggestions to get a better lather. My recipie is
25% Olive Oil
20% Coconut Oil
18% Palm Oil
10% Castor Oil
15% Shea Butter
12% Mango

I am however trying to save on my mango butter so I will be halfing it with Cocoa Butter ( 6% Mango 6% Cocoa ). It also seems to me that the butter % in general are kinda high. If I was to knock them down what % would be good and What oil would I need to increse?

I would cut the butters and castor down to 5%. I would add 2% to the Palm and the rest to the olive oil. I have found that coconut oil more than 20% is drying but it can be upped to 25% and with the extra butters you should be fine. Butters at that high a percentage will decrease bubbleage.

10% Castor is quite high. As above, I would cut the butters down as they will effect your bubblage factor. Can you try using just one butter in your recipe to start with? For your first soap, that's quite a complex recipe.

Generally a first soap is Olive, Coconut, Palm and Castor (5%)...
OO 40%
CO 20%
PO 15%
Castor 5%

Then, once you know how that feels / lathers, you can start playing with %'s to add in butters...

If you just made it, the soap can be quite drying with not many bubbles. Give it the full cure, then try again.

Ok I have been messing with soap calc and I have a question. I have rewritten my recipie as follows
5% Castor
5% Cocoa
5% Shea
5% Mango
20% CO
20% PO
40% OO

My lather value is 31 and creamy is 23 ( Thats good right? ) however my cleansing value is 26 and the range 12-22. Is this a problem? Im also SF at 7%

You don't really need all those butters. I would pick just one and add the difference to your olive oil.

I love butters as well in my soap but you have to decide if you want either a bubbly bar or a moisturizing bar. The butters do cut down on the amount of bubbles. If you cannot choose just one, why not cut down to two and lower the ratio of each one?
