I was all excited to make soap because I haven't soaped all summer. My Lock and Lock containers came today, so I dang near danced a jig in excitement. Now, I got everything together, but this was a new recipe that I'd worked up on soapcalc AND I used a new fo. Both no-nos, but I figured, what the heck.
Okay, I dissolved my lye in a 1:1 ratio with water so I could make up the remainder with coconut milk. I melted my oils, mixed in the coconut milk, and once the oils were at about 114 and the lye water was 104, I mixed it in. It took a little while to trace, but I attributed that to the milk. I added 2 tbs of kaolin clay (I used 40 oz of oils), and some TD. No problem. I finally got it to trace, and poured it in the container. After about 30 seconds, it was a goopy, oily mess. I was like, "WTH??" I poured it back into my bucket and this is what it looked like:

I tried and tried to beat it into submission:

It finally got really thick, but didn't seem to separate anymore.

I smashed it into the mold, stuck it in the fridge and immediately pulled out a wine cooler.
I hope it works.
