Teach Soap

If you have a batch that has possibly been over heated, can it be rebatched? And can you add more oil to make the batch larger?

I would like to add 16 oz more coconut oil. Or Olive oil.
And I will be adding more of the scent.

My 2nd batch.

I used

16 oz Coconut oil
8 oz Lard
8 oz Grapeseed
12. 2 oz water
4.7 oz. lye.

All mixed well, I added 1/2 oz. OE. as that was all I had of that scent. And added Liquid color in separat bowl of Mixuture at the end. Swirled into the batter in mold.

I put the mold in the over at 170 degrees for 1 hour. And turned off the over. Leaving the mold in the oven over night. I realize this was my mistake. Next time I will let It do its thing. As I have read. And maybe then put it in the freezer?? It was a silicon mold.

Yes, you can rebatch. But no, you can't just add more oil because there won't be enough lye to saponify it.

How badly did it overheat? Did it separate?

Back to the re-batch... Should I just chop the soap up little and put it in the bag.
With a little water? How long? Do I cook it? Do I cook to a specific temp?
I will be using more or the EO. Then remold it and let it cool?

If the soap is new, there is no need to add any water. If you feel you must, I would add one tablespoon. If you have a crock pot, chunk it up and cook on low til it's the consistency of mashed potatoes. Depending how much fragrance you added at the beginning, I would not add more. Glop into your mold. Let cool. cut.

Oh Thank you Both so much! I will use the Zip Locks I really like that Idea.
And I really do need to add more EO. I did not add enough the first time. And you can hardly smell it.
I am waiting for my order of ROE. That was mentioned to me also. It should be here this week. I hope. I also hope it has instructions on how much to use. But as soon as it arrives I will be doing my first rebatch. And will let you know how it goes.
