So...this has probably been asked a MILLION times...BUT...what would ya'll pick as the 3 or 4 EASIEST most BEGINNER FRIENDLY scents to use in your soaps? Perhaps even a handful that could be mixed/matched amongst themselves? Remember, I am gonna be using goat milk IF that makes a difference, dunno, may and may not...BUT...

I want to go ahead and order a few to play with...thinking I would use the Bramble Berry website as it is pretty easy for me to navigate and all....

I plan to make a few more batches of plain old soap of course...but I would like to try spicing it up some...

I'm no where near trying froo froo fancy color stuff or anything like that...but I think I would like to have some scents on hand to putter around with...

Thoughts ya"ll???

I'll place my vote for Oatmeal, Milk, and Honey. You won't have any surprises with that one, but it does discolor to a tan.

I would try Energy, Lavender FO and Vanilla Select. Any of these can be mixed or matched.

I'd go with Oatmeal, Milk & Honey, Lavender, Black Raspberry Vanilla and I'd stay clear of most florals.

Yup...not real big on floral stuff personally, kinda glad to see some of the stuff I lean towards anyways on the list here :P

Is there anything on the "manly side" of scents that is easy to work with? My husbands only request so far is that he NOT be bathing with "girly soap"...course I dunno if you get more girly than goat milk...but whatever right ?

Try leather from BB. It can be mixed with alot and has always behaved for me. Or there is patch...great mixer.

BB's Cedar & Saffron is a great scent and is easy to soap. It does discolor, though. BB's Wake Up Rosemary is also a nice FO to soap (made a batch today!) and doesn't discolor at all.

I'd recommend Oatmeal, Milk & Honey (does discolor), Energy, Lavender eo, and Vetyver fo or Vanilla Oak fo (masculine scent). If you don't mind blending you could skip the Vetyver/Vanilla Oak fo and get Patchouli eo, which would also be more flexible. You'll have lots of scents before you know it. It's addictive! :D

My favorite is Energy----great scent, and super, super easy to work with. I'll check my notes about easy-to-use manly scents. A few FOs come to mind, but I've forgotten if they have issues or not :).

Thanks ya'll! It's going to be SO hard to pick...but may give that "energy" a try as it has a few votes and sounds different but fun!

I know...I'm trying to avoid ending up with too many the first time...but I KNOW I am going to have a shelf full and fun little experiments waiting on me before too long!

For my list I think I shall order: energy, cedar & saffron (because it sounds different), and vanilla select ...MAYBE black raspberry vanilla too...for just because :)

Those should be enough to get me going I think...but any other thoughts are alway welcomed...I'm not placing any orders until Monday...so's I have PLENTY of time to decide :)

If you are ordering from BB, ones I've noticed behave well and smell great: Cranberry Fig, Energy, Passionfruit Papaya, Raspberry Violet, Champagne, Pineapple Cilantro, Sweetgrass, Dark Rich Chocolate (will discolor), Honey Ale (your hubby might like that one), Green Tea. Just to name a few :)

BB has a few sample packs of their best selling FOs; some are organized according to type - fruity, foody, etc. That might be a good place to start.

I like lavender (EO), citrus (BB has a very good pink grapefruit and one called orange peel which is really nice), more votes for cedar & saffron and vanilla select, and my husband likes the pumpkin lager.

Oatmeal Milk and Honey, Lavender, Green Tea behaves and I also like Leather. I don't like Energy at all and Vanilla has gone wonkey on me and is just not a big seller. Smokey Patchouli is wonderful and I like it better than the EO (smell wise).

All of the above. Vanilla Oak is my newest favorite vanilla. I got it as one of their free samples then bought some. Don't worry about the stuff with vanilla in it staying brown or tan. That is a lovely, lovely color from light in Oatmeal Milk and Honey to very dark in Dragonsblood. I struggle the most with colors so those browns and tans are a welcome relief. Another free sample I got that I surprisingly liked was Wasabi.
