I just made my first batch of soap with goat milk. It is a 100% olive oil soap. I usually use the lightest color olive oil in my regular soap but for this one I used an oil that was on the green color side. I did this because I added no color or fragrance to the soap. Now. I noticed how yellow the milk lye solution was when AI combined it with oil. If I make my regular soap recipe and use goat milk what is that going to do to colors. I usually use lab colors. Is that yellow color going to combine with my color and not give me the true color I want??

How warm did your milk / lye solution get? I can keep my mixture still quite white so don't have any issues with it affecting my colours.

Oh gosh. I really don't remember but it seems like it might have been around 120 degrees. It was pretty yellow and creamy. The soap I made doesn't seem to be yellow. It seems like it was kind of yellow as I combined the lye and oil.

Milk has natural proteins and sugars which can affect the final color. That might make it harder to get true colors from Lab Colors. I don't use any colors in my goat's milk soap as my customers prefer nothing else added to my batch.

Not much you can do about the oil color you used but if it's not dark it shouldn't be bad. I just made a batch with coconut milk subbed for all the water and found the freezing route worked great. (Froze the coconut milk until slushy then slowly added the lye to it. I put the lye pitcher into a larger pitcher containing ice.) Good luck with your soap!

My goats milk soap is usually anywhere from an ivory/cream color to a light tan after gelling.

When I use goats milk powder I tend not to get the cream\golden color.
