Teach Soap

Hi everyone!

I'm a chemist (not yet licensed) here in the Philippines. I'm working on a cosmetic lab and in a soap manufacturing plant.
Here's my situation.

I'm making Master Batch Records (MBR) and Batch Manufacturing Records (BMR) for our soap products. Now, I'm having problems on the in-process controls in the quality of soap. What are the in-process controls, whether it is physical or chemical determination, that are needed to perform to achieve the good quality of soap? Can anyone help me out here?

You're asking a question about process control. I doubt that anyone here can answer that question. I'm an artesanal soap maker like most of the rest of the soap makers here, and they have bags more experience than I.
However I do have some process control experience in plastics and cement. In general, the process needs to be accurately defined; accurately controlled; accurately monitored. Repeatability is the key. In the later stages of process automation a computer can adjust the process automatically.

I am assuming you are using a hot process. Commercial production usually implies separating the glycerine. Your inputs will be nonpolars mass, average SAP value, mass of lye, mass of water, and so on. Your outputs I assume will be soap and glycerine byproducts.

So, in an easy language it means that I must be aware of the quality of the ingredients that I use to make soap and after I have a finished product I must test it for the list of qualities, including level of PH, bubbliness, hardness, conditioning etc.
And I have to re-test this only if I use other quantities of ingredients or other recipe?

Or should I take it all to the laboratory to make an independent test everytime I use other recipe?
