I have always used distilled water in my soaps and other creations but I have salt water tanks and I use an RO/DI (reverse osmosis/ deionized) water filter to make water for my tanks. It is a highly filtered water source, no impurities after it comes out of the filter. I was wondering if I could use this water in my soaps and stuff. Is there anything that is left in distilled water that helps in the soap making process? I was just thinking about this, this morning and thought I would throw it out there. Thanks for any help.

I don't see why not. I've seen people use reverse osmosis water for soapmaking.

I figured it would be ok but just in case there is something I don't know about. That's great because I have plenty of water made up for topping off tanks so I can just get me some when need be.

as long as there are no trace minerals in it to react to the lye should be fine, yeah?
