Teach Soap

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a natural colorant for a new FO I picked up for my fall craft shows, pumpkin spice! I thought about using actual pumpkin puree but I am concerned about the soap going rancid with that...plus I have never used food in soap:) Since I don't have an orange oxide or mica on hand I thought I would try another approach.

Also trying a calendula infused oil soon...if my back order ever gets here:) and wondered if most people using this would use as much infusion as you can. I will be using OO to infuse with so I will infuse a large jar of it and use up to what my recipe callls for in the infusion?

Is the Pumpkin Spice from BB? In my experience with it, it is a little irritating on sensitive areas. When I sold it at craft fairs, I warned my customers about that. Mostly on the face and nether regions. I only add 1 oz per pound. It is a strong scent. I had one customer return and thank me for letting her know that it was irritating but she couldn't resist trying it on sensitive areas, she only tried it on her face a little and said I was right. Just make sure you try it first and see what happens. It smells great. Now, I like to use it in guest soaps for Halloween. That way it can't be used on sensitive areas. I want to get the Pumpkin FO from BB. They one they say smells just like Pumpkin. Can't wait to get Halloween going. My favorite holiday!!

For Orange she used 2 parts brick red oxide / 4 parts yellow oxide.

Try infusing some paprika.

It is rather scratchy and irritating when used right in the soap, but if you infuse a small amount of oil with it you can add it to part like you would an oil dispersed colourant.
