Teach Soap

I plan on placing an order with BB for some CP supplies/ingredients and wanted to know what are some "must haves" or most common ingredients for CP recipes? It seems like Shea butter, cocoa butter, coconut oil, and palm oil are most often used but I'm most curious as to whether or not there are others. I'm referring to general recipes not any one in particular. Thanks!!

Generally you find a recipe you want to try, then buy those ingredients. Not the other way around. Are you just starting with CP? I'd find a simple recipe (Olive, Coconut, Palm and Castor) and get used to how it's made before buying up other ingredients like Shea and Cocoa Butter, etc. Saves wasted money and wasted ingredients...

Ditto. You can start with a simple recipe and get the ingredients from the grocery store. You'll find the cost of soaping can add up very quickly. Start simple.

Bramble Berry has a really nice starter kit for cold processed soap. I'd start with that, because then you have just what you need, mold included, and good directions.

I started with BB's starter kit too, it was really inexpensive and went over some good basics. Plus it came with an amazing FO A-M's "Lots of Lather" recipe is a good one to start with. Believe that is the recipe that comes with the kit too. Better to start out simple first.
