Teach Soap

How do I mask that scent? I don't use fragrance oils, only essential oils. I live kelp powder, but the smell really turns people off.

VERY little goes a long way. I don't think you can mask it.

I have some kelp powder I have never used, but most that I read from people who've made it says the scent doesn't carry over after curing at less than a teaspoon ppo.

Do some google detective work I suppose.

Thank you! I've googled. For research, I'll usually run a search here, then I google, then I post. LOL. I want all opinions I can get.

Mine carries over! I have some soap I made in 2009 and it still smells like seaweed!!! I have had partial luck with patch and seaweed, but still the scent would bloom when it was used in the shower. I still want to try tea tree EO or eucalyptus. Maybe a blend of tea tree and lavendar would cover it? If you try one and find it works let me know... I would love to use up this kelp.

I used some lemon EO, litsea EO, lavender EO, and 10x orange. I dont smell the kelp anymore. The lemon seems to be dominating.

I've made exactly one batch with kelp. I used rosemary and ginger EOs, and the smell was... Still marine. Not unpleasant, if you like that kind of thing!

My Lemongrass Sage worked out ok. The smaller portion was colored with kelp powder and sea clay so maybe there wasn't enough kelp powder to ruin it. Maybe a small amount of kelp powder wouldn't be a problem with an ocean scent?

I used Ocean rain fragrance from Brambleberry with the soap I made with kelp powder and I do not smell it anymore.

I've only every used this stuff in mud wraps. Usually I blend with a couple clays (red, green or fuller's) and go a bit heavier with any EOs. The smell is still there, but not overpowering. Hadn't soaped with it yet, so... good to know!
