Teach Soap

I was thinking of trying some HP in the crockpot. Anyone have a simple recipie to get me started? Also when doing BB rebatch base if you wanted to add cocoa butter or some other additive does the 1TBSP rule still apply like in M&P?

Any simple CP recipe will work. In any HP/CP recipe you can use up to 15% of cocoa butter.

I just started experimenting with crockpot HP and used a basic 2lb recipe to start. I *think* my crockpot got too hot for that small of a batch, even on low setting, so a few days later I also had my first attempt at rebatching (used boil in the bag method). The soap is still unsavagably ugly, but it has great lather and smells really good, so I put it in mini heart shaped molds, named her Pretty / Ugly and called it good!

Second attempt with a 4lb batch last night went better. Tried out sodium lactate in the lye water so not sure if it was easier to glop into the mold due to that or it not getting too dried out during the cook as my smaller batch did. Unmolded, cut this morning and looking forward to showering with a sliver of it.

Oh no I was planning on starting with a 2 lb. batch as well what recipe did you use?

I've made a couple of Crockpot HP soaps so far at 1 pound, and although the first two were ugly, they were wonderful! The second one I did, I watched my soap really closely and glopped it at the right time, and cut it at the right time, and it came out wonderful! It is rustic, but I like that it is rustic. I usually do a batch of HP soaps with the same ingredients as my newer CP soaps, so that way I have some "testers" on hand before the CPs are done curing, so that way my customers can check them out, feel how the soap works, and decide if they like the scent.

I just get a kick out of watching it do "it's thing" if you will in the crockpot...soapy miracle I tell you!

I don't have enough experience to throw in anything useful...but I can tell you for sure it is FUN!
