Teach Soap

I have problems with colorants. I color my soap with either oxides or ultramarines. Sometimes after incubation, when cutting the soap into bars,the colorant has crackled and dispersed, especially towards the center of the loaf. Any suggestions as to how to stop this? Is the soap getting to hot or does the colorant need to be replaced?

I use both of those most of the time, too. I usually blend them into a small amount of oil to be sure there are no clumps, etc. and then add that to a small amount (maybe a 1/4 cup or so) of my soap batter and mix well before adding it to the entire batch. This process seems to work best for me. I almost always let my soaps gel and haven't noticed a problem like you mentioned.

It could be your batch overheating. Are you diluting your color in a little bit of glycerin first?
