Hello I'm new here and I think this is where I should be posting most of my questions??? If not can you tell me where I should be posting? Here is my 1st post and it explains most of what I'm wanting to do.
http://www.teachsoap.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=788

I'm wanting to make test batches on my already made Goats Milk Base soap that I've bought...as not to waste the whole pound of GMBS (Goats Milk Base Soap) that I have.

How do you do test batches?

How much of the fragrance oils do you add to a test batch?

How much of the Essential Oils do you add to a test batch?

How much soap base do you use to do a test batch?

Any help or thoughts would be deeply loved...Please keep in mind I've not even made one batch of soap yet...Trying to learn and gather all supplies before jumping in...Hugs :) Lee

Not sure I understand the question but I'll try.

Sounds like you got rebatched goat's milk soap.

You can make your test batches any amount you wish. Just know that the smaller your measurements, the more difficult it is to get them exact. For instance....if you're making 23 pounds of soap and use 1.1 pounds of lye instead of 1.0 then it isn't so bad. If you're only making a pound of soap and make the same mistake the result can be caustic.

Fragrances for test batches are going to vary. Some FO's hold the scent better so you can use less. A good rule of thumb is 1oz of FO, PPO. This should be a good starting point.

My test batches are 1 lb. If this is rebatch, you can do to 8 ozs.
I use about 1 oz. of fragrance per pound of CP.
So for an 8 oz. of rebatch base, I would measure out 0.5 of fragrance.

A supplier already has the Goats Milk base soap made up and I buy it from them in 1 lb. packages for now...I didn't want to buy larger sizes until I know what to do and how to do it. If you go read my 1st post listed here it explains what the package says and maybe that will help you. Thanks and hugs, Lee

Yes, what you have is Rebatch. "Base" is a term usually used for M&P soap. That is why we sound confused here. :) If you say "Rebatch soap base" we will all get a better clue to help you out.

I also do 1 pound test batches and agree with Soapbuddy to try that in half with whatever goodies you want to add. Just go for it! Have fun!
