Teach Soap

Thinking about trying calendula and lavendar buds in my soaps, how are these or other herbs when it comes to using the soaps? I have visions of them clogging up my customers(or my) drains Should I use a blender prior to putting them in the soap? A little goes a long way, correct?

Also I have seen calendula petals and leaves, which is better for cp?

Calendula I chop. Calendula leaves are not used, only the petals. Lavender I don't use as over time it turns brown.

Thanks Soapbuddy, have you ever used infused oils? Would you simply incorporate the infused oil into you recipe(and lye calc)?

I have infused dry herbs, then strained them. Obviously you will have less oil then what you started out with. I consider the oil that left after infusing as part of my total recipe in soap calc.

As long as we are talking about calendula... does anyone know if there is a difference between 'pot marigold' vs marigolds?
