Teach Soap

Would anyone be interested in swapping a few bars of CP (along with their recipes)? I've been experimenting with so many different recipes lately... and with each batch being 2-3lbs, there are a lot of great soaps sitting around here without homes.

It occurred to me, why keep experimenting with our own valuable materials when we can learn by swapping each other's leftovers?

I'd love to trade some bars with anyone who is interested. I'll provide the full recipe, including the amount of FO/EO and colorant, the batch notes, etc. Most of the ones I have available are 6-7 weeks cured, though a few are closer to 10. We can trade full bars or half-size, up to you!

I could see people swapping bars perhaps, but not recipes. It takes a lot of time and personal input to create a recipe that you like. It's like the 11 herbs and spices in KFC or the crabby patty formula (Spongebob), held very close to the chest and usually locked in a vault.

It's true that no one would want to hand over a recipe that they've pored over and perfected for a long time. I should have worded that better! The things I thought we'd benefit from swapping would be like:

- basic beginner recipes with different additives (coconut milk, goat's milk, beer, beeswax, sodium lactate, clay, honey, extracts...)
- soap slivers to get an idea of different fragrances post-cure
- bars that have cured for 6 months or more, particularly castile
- types of soaps and processes (rebatch, African, HP, etc.)

None of these things are trade secrets by any means, but for those of us (like me) who are relatively new to CP, it would be wonderful to be able to try the end result of different ingredients without having to totally break the bank. Knowing how we soapers are as a community, I bet I'm not the only one with a curing rack full of "extra" soap that someone else could enjoy and learn from.

I couldn't do the 6 month cure swap because my first batch was made at the start of April and I think I only have one (maybe two) but I could use it for a sliver swap. I do have a couple bars of HP soap to use, though I'm not sure if many people would like the fragrance (leather) and to be honest, its been 3 weeks since I did it, and it still feels drying to me like one week old CP does But I would love to do a swap where everyone uses the same recipe but different additives because it would let me see and try new things

I have lots of little brown paper bags full of soap slivers I'd be glad to share. Many are from some of my first batches, so they are pretty well-aged. I can put together a list of fragrances and such I used for them if you'd like.

I'll take whatever you want to part with.

I dug out my little soap pieces, and here is what I have:

EO:
clove & cassia leaf colored with olive oil infused paprika (only have 1), charcoal tea tree & lavender, cedarwood & lemongrass

FO:
from Bramble Berry: Coconut w/ lime EO, Honey Ale- Abita Amber beer soap, Sweetgrass rebatch from some colorant testing bars
from Nature's Garden: French Vanilla goat's milk, Yuzu & Tropical Blast coconut milk, Vanda Orchid, Chai Tea made with tea, Cafe Caramel made with coffee, Bergamot & Tarragon Leaves

Keep in mind these are mostly end pieces or misshaped bars I cut up for samples, so they won't necessarily be pretty, hehe.
