I am new to soap making. As my coconut oil is in a jug, do I warm the whole jug in a warm water bath and then pour out what I need? Does the repeated act of warming it change its quality? thanks for your suggestions.

Welcome! I would gently melt all of it and put it into a wide mouth container. It's not a good idea to keep remelting the same oil.

Thank you for the tip, I will pour it all into a large mouth pitcher and scoop out what I need for each recipe.

I melt mine and pour it into small 1 lb lidded plastic containers. I save empty yogurt or take out containers for this purpose. If it's hot enough where you live, you can put the container in your car for a couple of hours and the sun will melt it for you.
