Teach Soap

Ok fellow soapers...

I tried the zap test and it didn't do much. So I had the brilliant idea to test the batches I made yesterday and still nothing! Shoudn't there still be a little something to zap me on the new batch? And how am I going to know what this 'zap' is?

That was me when I first started, I needed to feel it to be sure. So with a glass of apple juice next to me. I touched a tiny bit of fresh soap I just had made and touched it to the tip of my tongue... yes it zapped! Now I knew. And then I quickly took a drink of the applejuice, swished it in my mouth and spit it out! Lesson learnt!

If the soap is not lye heavy or doesn't have any active lye in it, then it won't zap, which is a good thing

You will know when it's lye heavy. Many people compare it to sticking your tongue on a 9 volt battery. I don't know if it's the same since I've never done that, but you will get a little "jolt" feeling if it's lye heavy or has active lye in it.

You would definitely know if it zaps. If it doesn't, then you should be fine.

I've only been zapped once in all my tongue-testing, and you will definitely know it when you feel it!! (Very much like a battery, as described above.)
