Teach Soap

Does ambient room temperature affect soap? It is HOT in here tonight, and my orange and yellow coloured soap is leaching glycerin! The white part is fine, the TD was mixed with water while the colours were mixed with glycerin. Think I need a pigments page that I can list the ones I have and what they are soluble in, problem is TKB doesn't seem to list this! Always ONEthing in a batch that I'm not 100% happy with! That said I've had glycerin leach before, and the soap is just fine. But still! *whine*

One way to find if it's water soluble is to put a tiny amount on your finger and run water over it. If it cleanly washes away, it's water soluble. If it beads up or feels oily and doesn't wash off easily, it's oil soluble.

I've noticed the same thing happening to the soap curing in my extra room. We haven't been using the heat or A/C for over a month and my soap feels wet. I've been running a fan now to keep the air moving and it's helped a lot.

Husbands Dad keeps the house at 70 but has the heat on still. Its a huge battle here! Once I get my room all set up I'll have to get some fans! Have Empire coming to do an estimate on the floors tomorrow!

Ok Linda, so how long is "long enough"? We are heading towards our 38th anniversary, and yes I do like it when he goes golfing but I like it when he comes home! Especially if I get to make soap while he is gone.
