Teach Soap

Got all things together was going to make peacock swirls with green sea clay, blue mica and ocean green lab color. Had colors mixed mold ready had such visions of how lovely it would look. I mixed the fo oil put added it to my cooled oils and poured my cooled lye solution and every seized I barely got it in the mold. Try to slam the mold to get the air bubbles out and the bottom of my wooded mold fell off! I pushed it back together put not even sure it was mixed enough to be safe to use. So very sad now out of oils and have to wait till next weekend to try again.

my condolences...I know the feeling, I set my favorite wooden molds on a high shelf and ya know they fell and broke all up...it took months for me to glue them back together

What FO was it? Sounds like I need to avoid it, comes with gremlins!!

Thanks guys. The mold can be glued, if lye pockets the soap will be trashed, not big into rebacthing. If it is safe I will keep it and use it as the smell is still very nice. The scent was BB,s fresh bamboo and Peak Candles ocean never used either one before. It was an 8 pound batch so hope I can at least use it. Oh the sorrows of a batch gone mad

Peak Candles ocean does not work for me in CP at all. I bet that's where your problem was.

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but they sure have some great ideas!

Send your soap gremlins to all of those soapers who we see on youtube and sit there yelling "that's not how its done!" "OMG where are your gloves!" "WTF are you doing?!". You know the sort! Especially the ones that make a soap one day and sell it the next, they require gremlin invasions!

Hope the batch is at least usable hun, that's a lot of soap to have to bin!

So never had lye pockets before what do they look like? Here is a picture of the soap gone wrong, not sure if those spots are air bubbles or liquid pockets? I put my finger in them and no liquid or screaming occured . They look brown in the pic but they look like clear gel in person. I of course will not sell or gift these babies but they smell really nice and hope I can at least use them.

Lye pockets can look like what you have in that pic. Have you tested for zap?

Selena, sorry to hear about your troubles. For all that soap went through it sure came out looking nice. Hope the zap test was negative!

Sometimes A Mistake is so much fun, You just have to do it again!

I put my finger in but I know that does not count. I will test tomorrow as today was one long day and our family has a wee little one about to be born right now, so excited and praying for him and his mom.
