Teach Soap

I have a lot of rebatch soap shreds and want to rebatch them with a new batch of soap either using the CP or HP method. Has anyone had success doing this? I have rebatched just plain soap shreds in the past with good success, however I have heard that by incorporating gelled or wet shreds into a new batch of CP or HP soap oils then adding the appropriate lye amounts, I can get a smoother batter that is easier to pour into my mold. Any help here would be appreciated…I have about 10 pounds of rebatched shreds to work through.

You can make a confetti-type soap by just mixing some of the shreds into a new batch of CP. Just make sure as all the shreds are coated well with the new soap batter. Then you can gel or not - your choice.

what do you mean by Gel?...do you mean heating them in the new oils?
I'm not that crazy about the confetti soap....which I have made before, that's why I asked about completely mixing/melting the shreds into a batter of new soap to get a smooth even colored consistancy of regular CP or HP soap....the confetti soap I've done in the past didn't work out that well because a lot of the shreds were either softer or harder than the batter I mixed them into....and ended up looking like little pieces or slivers of soap protruding from the surface of the new bar.....

Depending how old the shreds are, soak them in your soapmaking oil(s), then stick blend before adding lye water.

For some reason I don't understand. If you have 10 pounds of soap to rebatch, you don't know about gel or non gel soap? There is a rebatch video from soapqueen that might help you with your rebatching.

Mella, I've been saving my soap shavings in 2 containers - one for pastel/light colors and one for bright/dark colors. This way I can mix and match!
