Do you wear a special apron when making soap? I had a lady from Etsy custom make me a regular kitchen apron that does not tie around the neck but criss crosses the back (I don't like anything on the back of my neck  ). I am going to have her make me another apron for soap making but was wondering if I should have it made of thicker or water repelling fabric rather than the plain cotton she used for my other one. I wouldn't want to risk lye soaking to my clothes and skin. I haven't made my first batch of soap yet but if it's like anything else I do, there WILL be messes! Any thoughts on the matter? Thanks!

I had mine made what I believe is called oiler's cloth. It has some sort of vinyl on it, like a plastic backed tablecloth.

I wear a lab coat, $12 from most university bookstores!

I wear old clothes. My basement stays pretty cool, even in summer, so there's always a few layers.

No apron for me. I wear what I've got on and add goggles while working with lye.

I wear old clothing, long sleeve. I also wear a cloth tool belt from menards... it holds the temp gun and clean utenials in case they are needed. I was actually thinking of making aprons for everyone this next Christmas... need to find the right pattern. Oilers cloth would be a great idea for a soap making one. I also have my share of denium left over from when my mom worked at
Oshkosh B-gosh. It would be great to put some of that to use.

Ha Ha Ha  Guess I should think about getting one hey? Except I might spend too much time sniffing it and not making soap!

check out this link that I got from a blog that I follow, the Frugal Kiwi.

Turn your old jeans into aprons with no sewing involved! This is so easy, you could make 60 of them in a half hour!
