Which is best for soap; tech grade or food grade? Most of what I've read says there is no difference, but the food grade is over twice the price.

I always, always use food grade. Industrial grade has a higher tolerance for impurities, ie just guessing here, bug parts per million, pieces of rock or shale, or who knows mouse wiskers per parts! KWIM? :shock: :shock:

I have used Rooto Lye, like Red Devil the former household drain cleaner when I was overseas and just had to do soap. It did have like black specs of rock or something in it. I did strain the lye water. The soap was fine.

Thanks Mella! I ordered the food grade. HAD to get an order of soaping stuff to NJ so I don't have to wait for all of my stuff, there is no way I can wait ~2 months to soap! MY FIRST BB ORDER!!!!!! And essentials depot too hehe :mrgreen:
