Teach Soap

Ok I am pretty clueless about this stuff but I need a little general info about the options out there. I know I would like to accept credit cards at the upcoming farmer's market this summer and expecially for the craft fairs & festivals I have signed up for. What are my options? How much does it cost? Do I need special equipment? 2 services I have heard about (but know nothing about) are Propay and Squareup...anyone have experience with these?

I use Propay for web site orders and Square-Up for shows. I also have Paypal available for online orders. Be aware that for Square-up you will need a specific phone type ie iPhone. Their web site has more info on that. I have a Premier account with Propay and process cards on their web site. For Square-Up I have a dingle that attaches to my phone. You will need to download Square-Up app to your phone. I don't have the rates handy, but if you Goggle their web sites, the info is right there.

Thanks! Looks like Paypal will be coming out with their own "dongle" soon...Paypal Here. Wonder how that will compare...looks like it will also give people the option of paying by paypal, credit or debit...with a dongle thingy for the iPhone. Wow I have a lot of research to do!

It will be interesting to see the reviews of both. Some people have complained about the PP dongle being a triangle, which is harder to use then the Square-Up.

I use Square for farmer's market and I use an Android phone for it. It's really easy to use. I practice doing card swipes by setting the price to $0.00

Thank you Goddess & MissRhosie! I am guessing I will prbably do the square unless the paypal thing pans out. I do like the idea of giving people the option of paying thru paypal. The best part of all of this is that I have been resisting getting a smart phone and now I have a real reason...and my verizon acct is due for an upgrade on 4/7!! woohoo new iPhone!!
