Teach Soap

So I've made 4 batches since Wednesday, think I'm getting the hang of it! But I have a problem with the lye being static and sticking to everything it touches (like the cup I use to measure it) what, if anything, can I use to avoid this? I saw a you tube clip that said to use static laundry wipes but I've never heard of them and couldn't find them in the shops- I'm wondering if we have them in Australia? (it was an American clip)

Any tips would be great, thanks. I'm really enjoying my new hobby!

I looked at the MSDS fabric softener sheet and besides fragrance, it has Octadecanoic Acid aka Double Pressed
Stearic Acid. It also lists biodegradable cationic softeners. Another site lists the ingredients as Dipalmethyl Hydroxyethylammoinum Methosulfate, Softening and Antistatic agent, Fatty Acid.
And this is from a PDF at the manufacturer's web site: Dipalmethyl Hydroxyethylammonium Metholsulfate, Fatty Acid, polyester substrate sheet, Clay, Fragrance.

If you can't find fabric softener sheets, you may try to find anti-static wipes for computer monitors. Use them to wipe down the outside of your lye bottle before pouring. I also found that by using stainless steel instead of plastic for measuring and mixing lye, it cuts down on the problems with static also.

I also stopped using plastic sheeting to protect my counter tops, as a small spill of dry lye could cause the whole kitchen to be affected. I now use cardboard and kraft paper.
