I made a batch of CP with honey last week and it came out just fine, so i decided to make a bigger batch with a different honey. The lye and water was about 30 degrees celcius and i mixed a small part with 4 teaspoons of honey for a 2kilo batch (2kilo oils), after about 30 seconds of stirring the lye, water and honey, i had an erruption, obviously too hot and immediately filled another container of cold water and let it sit there for a bit. I carried on anyway and mixed everything together. It's now in the mold, my question is apart from the very dark colour it's gone, will this soap still be OK with scorched honey?

I always soap with honey, and I've both added it to the lye water and added it to the soap at thin trace. I haven't had a lye eruption (yet?), but I always refrigerate my distilled water, which may help. Regardless, the honey in lye water does heat up to 150 or so along with the lye, which basically scorches it. The lye water usually turns a shade of orange or brown. The soap turns out fine, but I'm going to go back to putting it in the soap at trace, I think even though that has its own issues. I'm not really sure how much of honey's benefits make it through the soap making process, but it has a better chance if it's not dipped right in the lye, I think.

Anyway, based on my experience (maybe 50 batches or so), you should be fine.

I would halve the amount of honey. I don't know the conversion off hand, but I normally soap at around 110 degrees (US). What I would do is dissolve the honey in just a little bit of water and add it as soon as the oils and lye water are mixed.

I add my honey when it's just emulsified. I don't warm it, but that's probably also why I sigh a lot as it takes forever to drip off the spoon.

I make my lye solution, wait for it to come to room temperature, then add my honey (dissolved in a little bit of water). It heats up again, once it's cooled the second time, then I make my soap. Yes, my soap is tan. No, it doesn't overheat.

I have used up to 1T PPO without ill effect.
