Teach Soap

I have just launched my business with my thirteen year-old daughter. I am going to join the Soapmaker's Guild. I understand that Guild members can use the guild logo on their labels. I am interested in finding out if this is a marketing draw- does it help sell or validate your product?

I also want to get certified through the guild. Is anybody out there certified and would like to share their rationale for cerification ? Has it helped your business? There are not that many "certified" soapers in my state but I know there are lots of skilled and worthy soapers out there that are not certified.

Soapmakers would recognize the logo. Most general public won't. If you want to get certified by them, go right ahead, but you can get as much knowledge, help and experience on this forum if not more and for free. It's just a piece of paper.

I looked into that when I was starting my business and couldn't justify the cost. Since I already have my liability insurance it would be $100/year instead of $500, but the other member benefits didn't seem important enough to me to be worth the expense since I'm not selling online, etc. I also felt that certification wasn't really necessary either; nice, but not necessary.
