I just started looking into insurance so that I can sell my soap. Local insurance agents have come back with quite a hefty premium. Any suggestions as to where to purchase reliable insurance for soap making?

Try RLI, The Soap Guild or Indie Beauty Network. RLI has a cap that once you make over $5,000 they can no longer cover you.

I just arranged insurance through RLI. They were fast and reasonable. I am keeping my business very small and didn't need a huge policy. RLI is great.

I know that the local soap guild here in Portland, Oregon covers your insurance needs with their $500 a year membership fee. Maybe you could look into that for your area?

Is that $5,000.00 grose sales? Has anyone had to send them your Federal scedual C ? Cause thats the only way to prove that.

Autumn - they don't ask for verification to buy the policy but do let you know that if a claim is made against you they will require tax and bank account information. If you have made more than $5000 in the previous 2 years before the claim they will deny coverage.
