Teach Soap

Hi - anyone use cp castile for liquid laundry detergent (with borax & washing soda)? Anything special I would need to know about that? Does the castile have to have a low/no SF? Could I use one that has 5% SF?

I haven't used castile for laundry, but I don't see why you couldn't. Any superfat could leave a residue on your clothes. I do 0% SF for my laundry soap.

Castille doesn't clean as well as coconut. I would do a 100% coconut with no superfat.

ok coconut - but would castile still be better than using a bar of ivory (or some other store bought soap)??

I have been making my own laundry detergent with a grated bar of ivory for over a year now...i am happy with how it cleans and works...so I guess my question is: If I use one of my bars of cp Castile (5% SF), instead of the ivory, would it be better or worse?

There is no way to know how much superfat is in Ivory, but here are the ingredients: Ingredients Sodium tallowate, sodium cocoate or sodium palm kernelate, water, sodium chloride, sodium silicate, magnesium sulfate, and fragrance.

Try your castille with a vinegar rinse and see how that works for you.
