Anyone do anything with their soap scraps (like trimmings, shavings, etc.)?? I really hate to waste all that soap...

I save all of my scraps and when I get a lb. or two I grate them up and melt them and pour into individual molds. My family uses this soap, they don't mind if it is a funny color.

Yep - its soap balls for me. I call it a willy nilly soap. It will have a tad bit from every soap I made over the last 6-12 months. I love the way it looks when it is being used.... all the little bits of color come thru as the soap gets used... you never know what is next!

mind sharing how confetti soap or melting the soap scraps are done.
i've saved up 2 sandwich bag full of them.
most of the time, after soaping, i leave the pots overnight and start scraping our the next day.
hate to see them down the drain...so...2 bags full now...
still figuring out how to deal with them...

I bought a small crockpot for melting my soap scraps. As I said before, I grate them up, using the food processor & a grating blade. I put the grated soap in the crockpot with a little distilled water, turn on low and stir every now and then until it is all melted.

I made soap balls too...haven't made them before. I know, not exciting in terms of color lol...just an unscented beer batch. Need to make some more though, so I have enough for a loaf...can't wait!

I'm iffy about soap balls. Most of the videos I have seen with soap balls, the balls have popped out of the soap when it was being cut.

I haven't come across info about the soap balls falling out...if it happens I'll report back (gonna be a while though :) )
