I've just thrown a silent hissy fit in the kitchen. The kind where your twisting, your arms are air punching fairies and your face is so scrunched up you don't make a sound.

Why? SPOTS!!! I have flippin spots again!! Whhhyyyyyyy??

This is NOT a GM batch. It's water + Green Tea / Lye mixture. The oils heated to around 70 degrees (c) and the Lye mixture got to the same. There was no lye left - the water looked just like tea/coffee. Clear except for the colour. Not a single dot of lye left in the glass jug after I poured into the oils.

So why do I have these spots?!?!

This is just starting to tick me off so bad lol.

It could be your stick blender. Are you keeping it completely submerged? Is you container tall but narrow? If not I would try a different mixing container.

Yup stick blender fully submerged. I hardly even turned it on this time. Only about 5 seconds after the initial pour of the Lye mixture in. Rest I just hand stirred with the blender off. All mixed in one of those tall stainless steel pots - the tall ones, holds like 8 lt.

How long did it take you to reach trace? Did you use a fragrance that accelerated trace? Maybe you introduced bubbles when you swirled?

Um... about 2 minutes maybe? I poured at quite a thin trace as I wanted to have a go at the swirls. I used Peppermint EO

I'm not sure they're bubbles though. Although I won't know what the inside looks like until I cut it, I'm pretty sure these are the white spots I get on all my batches. The last batch was a GM one and it was lye - zzzzzap! I ended up rebatching it and it was fine. But I know I kept my milk/lye solution really cool so I wasn't that surprised. But no way this could be lye with the high temps everything got and the fact the liquid was clear.

It's just these damned white spots!! :|

How long had that batch been cut before the spots started showing up?

My Spots! batch has the same type of spots, mine are titanium dioxide that decided it wanted to be with its friends and not my soap  I discovered what mine were by nicking one out of the edge of a bar and smearing it with my fingers, it painted them white. They are all throughout the blue too, where there was no TD to begin with.

Using tap water - but it was boiled and cooled tap water yesterday. Normally I use filtered water. (both give me spots though).

Interestingly, this morning, spots are gone. :?
