The Soap Gods are determined to throw me in the deep end! :?

My new Nizzy molds arrived today (I am determined to learn swirling!) and, like a kid with a new Xmas toy, I jumped right in! I've been wanting to make Monkey Farts soap as they did so well with my MP bars, and I wanted to do a Pink, Brown and Yellow swirl (Yellow Bananas, Brown Monkeys with pink bums! )

Everything was going fine until I added the FO. Well actually, until I stopped mixing and went to poor. While I had the stick blender on - all good. While I was stirring with the stick blender turned off - all good. Pouring... bow boooww.

After pouring some mixture into my two colour containers and noticing, I took the rest back to the stove and mixed again. Managed to get that to a relatively soap looking level, so poured into my mold.

My poor little milk frother however, was not able to cope mixing the colours. The poor thing felt like it was trying to stir cement! After rescuing it's wheezing spinner from the mixture, I feverishly hand mixed with a spoon the best I could. I figured I had come this far, I might as well just follow through. After globbing the first colour in, I repeated with the second and globbed that in.

I then swirled / mixed as best I could.

Will they be usable... ever? Or is ricing = death if you can't revert the lumps?

Recipe:
Olive - 387g
Castor - 46g
Coconut - 200g
Larg - 250g
Lye - 122g
Water - 300g
Monkey Farts - 78g
** I used the Bramble Berry Fragrance Calculator, but couldn't see Monkey Farts, so used Dragon's Blood as to me they are a similar strength scent.

Oh... almost forgot the most important part! The Salt!! Since I pulled out the lard again, I took your advice Irena and added some salt. Only I don't keep normal table salt in the house, so instead popped in 1 flat teaspoon of epsom salt. I mixed it in with the lye water to dissolve.

So that could also be my culprit?

Epsom salt is not the same as table salt. Epsom salt is magnesium sulfate. Table salt is sodium chloride. They are not interchangable in soap.

Forgot to say it could also be your fragrance. I add my fragrance to the melted, cooled off oils.

I wouldn't. If you don't have regular table salt, try adding sea salt instead.

No sea salt either. I'll just purchase some table salt when I go shopping next. Easy done.

So will these bars be usable? Or does ricing = no good?

Coolah, I would hazard a guess that every one of us soapers has had all these things happen at one time or another. Unfortunately, your's all hit at the same time! Which means that after this you should have smooth sailing!
