Teach Soap

I have a question to those of you that have the soapmaker program. I put in one of my recipes, asked for a 35% lye solution and when I compared this to my orginal recipe on soap calc my water amout needed was way different. The lye came out the same as 4.4 oz, but on soap calc it called for 11.2 oz of water. On the soapmaker program it is telling me 7.9-8.2 oz of water. I could do the water discount on this one as it will be a one color bar....but just curious for future info why? I am slowly learning the soapmaker program so there could be something there that I am missing. TIA

I had the same thing happen to me. Now I have the water discount set at 0% and to give me 11 oz of water for a 2#.
If you go to "Prefs" on the menu bar, you can change your water discount by clicking on the "solid soap" tab. The section for water discount is on the right side. Hope this helps.

Thanks Linda, I did set the orginal at 35% as this is what I was usually close to. If I do 1-3 colors I like the extra fluids to buy me some time or every now and then I get a FO that acts up on me and the extra water is helpful. I tried to think around why the amount would be less but at least I know how to 'fix it'. I will also look to see if there is a contact ability on the program and ask the makers.... I always seem to want to know the why.

Now that makes it more clear. I will have to take part of a day this week and work a little more with the program. I learn something with each time I use it. And I have to say the more I use it the more I am liking it.
