I just used a bar of coconut soap that I made four weeks ago. It is so awesome; I want to marry it. I haven't showered for two days, and my skin is still smooth as an otter's.

I'd like to make it again, but I'm not looking forward to the stinky hot touch and go process of adding lye to iced milk, which takes forever, so that it doesn't overheat. Can I just use powdered coconut milk at trace and get the same effect?

I've used coconut milk powder in my CP soap with good results. I made a slurry (with water) and added that at a very light trace.

I've always wanted to try coconut milk in my soap, but never found a recipe that I liked/understood. With lye? At trace? How much?

I've done a couple of batches with coconut milk and absolutely love it. I make it just like I would goat's milk. Not added at trace but mixed with the lye as a 100% substitute for water. My customers love the stuff. I just wish it was less expensive so I could use it all the time. A 12oz can costs about $2.25 here.

I use alittle coconut milk in all my soap except the plain goats milk soap. I just discount the water that I mix with lye by how much coconut milk I want to add ( say 20 percent of my total liquid ) and add it at very light trace. That way there is no scorching or discoloration.
