Teach Soap

Hi All,
I've seen warnings not to use Dead Sea Salt in soap because of the high mineral content. Each time, the warning was that it would turn soap into a gloppy mess. I read these warnings after I had made a very respectable salt bar with... Dead Sea Salt. So is it that the mineral content varies, and if you get one high in magnesium, it will short out your recipe? Or is it a soaper's myth that it can't be used? There are also Dead Sea salt bars being sold, so I'm not the only one to make it successfully. So... any idea what gives?

I find dead sea salt still has moisture which can make the soap weep, especially in humid weather. It's not the mineral content. It's possible that someone put their dead sea salt in the oven and baked it to remove the moisture, but I have never tried that.
