Teach Soap

I am trying to make a moisturizing soap with the ingredients I happen to have on hand lol. What do you think of this recipe?

Olive Oil 29%
Palm Oil 28%
Coconut Oil 20%
Avocado Butter 13%
Sweet Almond Oil 10%

Superfatted at 8%

Does this sound like it would work alright and be moisturizing? I have made 4 other batches of CP following pre-made recipes, and I wanted to try my own, but I don't want to mess it up, thanks!

I know when I used Avocado Oil, it makes a very soft bar. Not sure if the butter would do the same. Sweet Almond Oil is another soft one I believe. Have you got anymore Olive Oil you could use? Or pop up the shops to get some? Just to make the bar a bit harder...

Avocado butter makes for a soft bar. I would add the 10% to your olive oil.

I agree with Soapbuddy. I tend to favor more olive oil than the other ingredients.

I've no idea about avocado butter, but I use 15% avocado oil in my recipe and my bars are really hard just a day or two after production.

I will use butters up to 8% of my recipe but then usually half of it is cocoa butter, which is hard. So try dropping the butter to say 5 % and add the difference to the palm and olive. I love having some sort of butter in my soap. (wait - I also like having butter in my food... hmmm ). You never know, this may turn out to be your best bar yet. I also add salt to my batch to increase the hardness just a little. Or if you had bees wax on hand you could add 1% of that. Just make sure in the end you do a lye calculator to get the right amount.

Lately i have been experimenting ALOT with different recipes trying to break away from the ones I find in my books and from what I have found out is to much palm oil and coconut oil make for a drying bar of soap (on my skin) do yourself a favor and play around with soapcalc's soap calculator ,when you get used to it and you understand the thing if your cleansing number is 25 or above it's prbably going to feel drying on skin.Believe me I've lost alot of sleep formulating recipes. good Kuck
