So I finally get the courage to make my 1st CP batch- had everything all set. I must have hit the "tare" button too many times so ended up with the wrong amount of OO...I should have started over but for whatever reason kept going. My "soap" has been in the mold for 6 days and is soft and mushy, pudding like. But just last night I noticed it getting a tiny bit firmer on top, I don't think it's my imagination but it could be I guess. I've heard everything from throw it away to put it in the oven or crock pot to leave it alone for weeks or months. Please could one of you experts help me? I would be so appreciative. Thank you in advance.

How much were you going to originally use? How much over are you? How much did you superfat? Did it gel? If it's just a small batch, I would get rid of it and start over.

It was just 5 lbs. 5% super fat. I got screwed up when I was measuring and then it got worse, honestly I have no idea how much over I was- at that point I was totally guesstimating. It didn't gel I don't think. Never saw any signs of it. I keep tapping it and it is pretty mushy, like bananas. I think you are right- might as well chuck it and start over. My 2nd batch came out great btw, after I figured out the scale issue. Now I just measure everything separately...a little messier and a little more time consuming but it's ok. I can do that. Thank you for your help.

5 lbs. is a little more then little. Here is what you could try. Make a 2 lb. batch at 1% superfat. Add your already made extra superfatted soap to your oils before you add the lye water. Add the lye water and mix really, really well. Make sure that the soap gels. After it cools off, see if it's hard enough to cut. If not, put it in the fridge to firm up. When firm enough to cut, cut it then go put it in a place where you'll forget about it for a long while.
