Hi all :)

I've been practicing with MP soap for a while now, getting the hang of everything. Over the Xmas period while the kidlets are off with daddy, I'm going to have my first few goes at CP soap. I'm very excited.

I plan on starting with very simple batches to start with while I learn - no colour, no fragrance.

My question is, can I then remelt any batches that work in order to add colour, fragrance, poor them into different molds for fun? Or is it a case of once made, you can only wash with it?

You can rebatch CP soap, but it will never be as fluid as when first made (or like MP). Rebatched soap is more the consistency of mashed potatoes and harder to mix. You will be glopping into your molds, not pouring. :)

LOL a nice image there hehe. I was hoping to be able to remold it as I want to take a photo of each one of the molds I have to show people. Like I have dinosaur molds, beetles and bugs, little cars etc. I thought instead of just wasting it, I could melt it back down and use it to show off the molds. I figure with no fragrance, and no colour, no one's really going to be interested in it (I thought as in giving away the ones that work), and there's only so much soap I can use myself lol.

Any fine details in your soap mold would be lost with rebatch. Those type of molds work better with regular CP or MP.

Bugger. I was going to use my goat's milk MP to do them, but I would ideally like to have them all the same colour (so would go white I guess), but it seems like such a big waist of what is (to me) expensive soap base >< Coz there's only so many times you can melt down MP isn't there?

If you want a fine, detailed soap, MP base works the best, followed by regular CP.

Possibly silly question - can I pour CP soap into all my molds? I've only ever really seen them done in loaf and the big square molds. Can I pour it into say my dinosaur, hearts, cupcake molds? And if so, does it affect the process at all?

Okies, thanks. I've got mostly silicone molds - most that I have bought for the purpose of soaping yeah. I've bought them either from soap supply stores, or people on eBay that sell soap and candle supplies.

I'm not tooooo worried about gelling for the time being as I'm mostly wanting to get the hang of mixing ingredients, learning the trace stages etc. None of the soap will actually be used at this stage. More just for playing around to learn.

Thanks (once again) for all your help! :)

Hehe will do!

First job this weekend is to completely re-arrange my kitchen as my soap supplies just don't fit in the one tub any longer lol. Oh to win the lotto and build a house with TWO kitchens! /dream
