If you want your cupcakes to be very white use harder white oils and butters such as lard, palm, palm kernal, coconut and you should be careful about the FO your using. Most have agents that will darken your soap. Leave them out if you can. You can use Titanium Dioxide as a whitening agent, half a tsp in 70+oz of oils. They make TD that is both water and oil soluble. If you want to frost the tops, make a separate little batch with colorant…

The lighter the oils and butters, the whiter it will be. Don't use any fragrance with Vanilla in it or any known fragrances that will discolor. A lot of the "foody" scents will discolor.

i have some vanilla stabilzer but not sure how much to put in 2 lbs. soap yet. i use lard, and light olive oil. some of the cupcake scents are vanilla bean so i guess if they turn a light brown that would be approappriate for vanilla. Thanks for the tips. i made some cucpcake bath bombs with cold pour frosting (practicing). I did not have cute liners for them yet and made these in silicone cupcake liners. I am not sure how to store these till they are ready since the bottom is bath bomb. hate to have them set out too long with the bath bomb part. I wanted to do a melt and pour frosting on the bath bombs but it was a disaster lol.

Vanilla Bean will turn brown. Are there direction on the bottle of the vanilla stabilizer? If not, does the vendor have the info listed on their web site? If you pipe the frosting in a circular pattern, you will get a better coverage.

When you say "cold pour frosting" are you talking about cold process soap or whipped soap a la Nizzy? If so, I would leave it in the molds til it's hard enough to pop out.

i did cold process soap. i add color to the soap not thinking the vanilla bean would turn brown anyway. just pracicing right now but that is how you learn, right? i did circular but my soap was not thick enough at first so i just poked them to get little peaks. i need to get some disposable pastry bags or pastry container to decorate which will make it easier. also, i will wait for the soap to thicken up more. just was afraid it would get to thick on me before i was done and you can't melt cold pour like you canmelt and pour. what i mean't by drying was with cold pour process soap frosting, you can't seal up in a bag until the soap hardens which is fine but you don't want the bath bomb cupcake to sit out too long.
