Teach Soap

I want to use this recipe, but can I trade out the olive oil for shea butter, and just run it through the lye calculator?

13 oz Coconut Oil
29 oz Olive Oil
13 oz Palm Oil
4 oz Palm Kernel Flakes
1.5 oz Sweet Almond Oil

8.5 oz Lye
20 oz Distilled Water

4.8 oz Vanilla Fragrance Oil

I tweaked the SoapQueen funnel pour recipe a bit, does this look like it would work? This is my first batch of CP soap, so I won't do the funnel part or even play with colors beyond what the vanilla changes lol. Does this recipe look like it will work? I added 9 oz of shea butter, and took out 9 oz of olive oil from the original recipe.

I am a total newbie too but wow that seems like a lot of shea butter in a recipe?? Just curious...why do you want to replace all of the olive oil? Why not use the recipe as is but add a small amount of shea butter and then re-calc...?

hmmm i think you might want to stick to an easy (tested)recipe for your first batch. You want to give yourself every opportunity to succeed. here is one of the first ones i used - from Anne Watson's book.

10.5 oz coconut oil
10.5 oz oilive oil
9 oz shea butter
8 oz water
4.2 oz lye
