Today I made my first TWO-3lb batches of CP soap!

Up until now I've just made mini-tester batches. The only thing that happened that was bad was...one of my digital thermometers fell into my lye water and went

:-\ >:( Can't wait to see how they turn out!

Congrats on your batches! I hope you didn't get any glass in the lye water (or you made a new batch of lye water).

Congrats Debbie!

I just wanted to share with you one of my recent soaping purchases, a mini teperature gun! It has a hand strap (to preven sropping) and all you do is point into your pitcher of lye, press the button and instant temp!

I got it from Brambleberry, I love it!

One question...I don't want to unmold to early, when should I unmold? I finished the first batch around 1 or 2 and the second batch around 8 yesterday.

I usually unmold and cut my gelled soaps after about 24 hours. Like Linda says, if it still seems too soft, just leave it for a little while longer.

Here's the laser thermometer from Bramble Berry that Carrie was talking about: http://www.brambleberry.com/Mini-Temper ... P4848.aspx. You can also pick up an infrared laser thermometer from the hardware store. I got one at the Home Dept for around $30.
