Teach Soap

hello again!

i always tempted to made 100% OO castile soap(just OO, water & lye with no FO or EO), so today is the day!

but when i run through the lye calculator, it shows 0% of cleasing result...is this normal??

that's normal. I think it's because it's such a gentle soap. I use it to wash off makeup and it works great. Go for it!

Hi Sookie! I'm a fellow Aussie that just made my first batch of 100% castile yesterday. Yet to cut mine up (which will be straight after I've posted)!

Good luck with your batch today!

As far as pure Castile soap, take the cleansing properties in the soap calc with a grain of salt.

"soap porn", another new term i learnt....mayb my "porn" production not susscessful today

just hava quick look at the soap after 7hrs....still very soft as expected..ermmm...i did a small pH test from it & its way too heavy lye...shall i keep waiting till the soap is fully solid n perform another pH test...?

my recipe as below
1. OO = 1000g
2. lye = 125g
3. water 380g

Linda, Did you run it through a lye calc? Do you have an accurate scale? I'm not home right now, so I can't run your recipe through my lay calc.
