I know the voices in my head aren't real, but they sure have some great ideas!

You can use HP soap right away, but it's still better to wait a couple of weeks. The soap gets milder as it cures. Water also evaporates, making the soap harder and longer lasting. Fragrances that seize in CP soap can be successfully added to HP soap after the cook.

great tutorial Maetessa..thanks for sharing! I've been using saran wrap and a block of wood to get a smooth top..never thought of using a knife!


I'm never sure how soon you can use it either...I was thinking 3-4 weeks.

soapbuddy (if you see this ) what do you think is a good wait time for a HP batch I made using 65% OO? Longer than 3 weeks? (rest of oils are CO, shea butter and castor...no palm or tallow)

I viewed your tutorial and found it very helpful. Do you have trouble with your scents staying in your soap? I used lemon essential oil and after 2wks the scent was gone. Does fragrance oil hold better? I wondered how much to let the soap cool before adding fragrance but realized if i waited too long the soap would mold with cooled pieces running through it (a pebblely look) What do you think?
